Working initially with a withdrawl group of 12 senior students, The Beacon News Crew, we have also discovered that an initiative such as this has further provided authentic contexts for students to

- Think creatively and problem solve
- Improve their ability to write in a transactional genre
- Manage and organise their time and resources
- Demonstrate leadership and awhina within their own classrooms
- Apply a wide range of Key Competencies across their learning
